As of Wednesday morning, officials placed the missing persons count at 32, while the death toll stood at 48, according to a state-operated news agency. The figures were later revised upward.
The catastrophe has forced at least 685 residents from their homes, all of whom have been transferred to temporary shelters.
Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Muhammad Ali revealed Monday that 23 military personnel were engulfed by the landslide while conducting training maneuvers in the region. Four service members have been confirmed deceased, with 19 remaining unaccounted for.
The massive earth movement swept through a village in West Bandung regency Saturday, entombing numerous residences beneath torrents of mud and wreckage.
Search-and-rescue teams continue working in the impacted zone, where treacherous topography poses significant obstacles to recovery operations.
